The famous quote from the movie, Field of Dreams, “If you build it, they will come” is true to a point. Your market will come to your business and use your services or buy your products, but they won’t come if you don’t tell them about it first. It’s not magic and it’s not just going to happen. You have to put effort into it or they won’t come.

The effort you put into marketing your business will show in the increase in traffic to your site, the number of sales you make, and the number of returning clients or customers you have. If you put very little effort into marketing, your numbers are sure to be low, but if you put several hours a week into it, you’re going to see the results will be higher. You’ll begin to see how important this task is for your business and how it will be worth it in the short and long term for your business.

Some business owners think all they need to do is post ads on social media sites and people will come, but that’s far from the truth. Building an online business is one of the hardest things you’ll do and the reason is because it’s hard for people to trust a person they can’t meet face to face. It’s hard to trust someone to ship a product when they require payment before the item is shipped. This is why you must post more than just ads. You must post other things that will show your market you’re a real person, and you’re there to help them rather than just take their money and call it done.

We’ve been working with Sophie Zollmann for almost half a year now, building an online lifelong learning platform and community from the ground up (because in-person classes became impossible in light of the corona virus). Sophie has guided every technical aspect of this enterprise including the construction of landing-pages and websites, the management of mailing lists and revenue funnels, setting up Zoom meetings, etc., allowing us to focus exclusively on content production and marketing. This platform is now off the ground and succeeding beyond our wildest hopes.
