4 Tips for Effective Lead Generation

June 24, 2016 by sophiezo Leave a Comment

Lead generation

No matter how successful your business is, you always need to work on generating quality leads on new customers. Here are four vital tips you can rely on for reliable, steady list building.

1. Advertise

This is paramount. If people can’t see you, they won’t know about you and they won’t look for you. Get your name out there and be visible! You can advertise locally, regionally and nationally via social media, web banner ads, radio, print, and more. Consider creating or growing your presence on your own website, or on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. Always include your contact info on every piece of marketing you do!

2. Identify Your Unique Value Proposition

This phrase, “unique value proposition,” is just a few fancy words for the thing that makes you so special. For example, let’s say you own an exercise studio. There are tons of exercise classes people could sign up for, so why should they pick you? Be able to explain in one quick sentence. Often, your UVP answers a question related to a certain theme:

  • Results: Will customers get fit faster? Will they be safer or more skilled?
  • Experience: Is your studio more fun/friendly/competitive/laid-back/professional, etc.?
  • Authenticity: Is your style similar to the original source or have you developed your own modulations?
  • Pricing: Are you offering a better price?

Pinpoint what makes your place the place to be, and push that.

3. You Gotta Give to Get

Who’s at the top of the sales funnel? People who don’t know if they are interested or not. Make them curious about your product by offering a free trial, discount, free information, free evaluation, etc.

For example, if your business is an exercise studio, offer a free class to first-timers, or offer a package discount for 5, 10, or more classes. Refer-a-friend deals are also popular. Promote your business on discount website aggregators such as groupon.com or livingsocial.com.

4. Keep in Touch

Whether it’s a newsletter, video or a podcast, offer a periodic point of connection with customers & prospects. Provide your unique perspective on relevant issues and any news about your business. Never forget to include a call to action! Let your community know what you want them to do, whether it’s to reply, sign up, call, click, you name it!

Finally, one last tip: get the serious business help you need to open that sales funnel to more prospects. Get the expert help of an online business manager. She can help you get set up to execute on all four of these tips, and find the right creative team to make it perfect.

We’ve been working with Sophie Zollmann for almost half a year now, building an online lifelong learning platform and community from the ground up (because in-person classes became impossible in light of the corona virus). Sophie has guided every technical aspect of this enterprise including the construction of landing-pages and websites, the management of mailing lists and revenue funnels, setting up Zoom meetings, etc., allowing us to focus exclusively on content production and marketing. This platform is now off the ground and succeeding beyond our wildest hopes.

We couldn’t have built it without Sophie’s support, which has always been prompt and timely, and her guidance, as she’s always pointed us to the most efficient and economical solutions to whatever technical issue we’ve faced. In the heat of the moment, I’m sure we’ve not always been easy to work with, but Sophie has also been generous and understanding to a fault. In sum, her support has been flawless and absolutely essential to the success of our online enterprise. We will be relying on her services again as we ramp up for our next phase of growth.
