How To Create An Authentic Connection With Your Audience

If you want to make an impression in today’s super competitive online social space, then you need to learn how to make valuable and authentic connections with your chosen audience. Social media marketing is all about showing off your unique personality and establishing a relationship with your following, and even the slightest hint of an inauthentic interaction could be enough to damage your reputation forever.

While a social media marketing expert can help you to determine what kinds of things you need to say to get the conversation going, these following tips will also assist in ensuring you make valid, authentic connections with your audience.

  1. Speak Directly to your Target Customer

The chances are you already know how important it is to develop and maintain a unique voice for your brand – the voice that you’ll use in all of your social media and content connections. When using this voice, make sure that you speak directly to your readers in an intimate and personal way – rather than attempting to appeal to the masses at once. Social media isn’t for being “broad” minded about everything. It’s about reaching out and connecting with your audience on almost a one-to-one basis – speaking to the people who follow you as though they’re sitting in your office or living room.

  1. Show your Humanity

By showing your humanity, we don’t mean that you need to flood your Facebook and Twitter feed with pictures of your team’s smiling faces – though that could help. We mean use as many emotions as possible to connect to the people who care about your brand. If you can get your viewers to laugh, smile, or even shed the occasional tear (for the right reasons), then you’ll be taking the first steps toward creating a lasting emotional bond.

  1. Get Involved

Finally, creating an authentic connection with your audience is a process that will always go much smoother if you’re willing to get out there and get involved with the things that matter to your followers. For instance, take part in volunteer work that might be happening in your community and post pictures and updates to keep people in the loop. On the other hand, you could even try simply sharing some opinions about the latest news stories and changes in your area (just be careful that your thoughts aren’t too controversial.)
