Social Distancing Survival Tips

March 27, 2020 by sophiezo Leave a Comment

Many of us are beginning our second week of social distancing. While working from home is nothing new, working alongside your spouse while trying to help your children with their remote learning is a whole different ballgame! If you’re feeling a bit frustrated or beginning to get a serious case of cabin fever, you’re not alone. This is a huge change for most of us, and it can be hard to navigate this uncharted territory. But here are some tips that might make this week a little easier:

  • Share the Load

This one is for the parents. When you have kids that need help with their digital learning assignments and parents who are trying to work from home, who takes on the home schooling? Share the responsibility! One of you works while the other oversees the kids’ schoolwork, then you switch at lunch time. Each of you gets some uninterrupted productive time, the kids complete their schoolwork, and you might even have time for a load or two of laundry!

  • Set a Tech Schedule

WiFi overload – the struggle is real. If you’re experiencing a major tech slowdown because everyone in your house is online at the same time, you need to set a daily schedule. Set aside time for must-do tasks like online work meetings for parents or online class lectures for the kids. Then divvy up the remaining time so everyone can get their work done without fighting for WiFi.

  • Give Yourself a Break

Please remember that you are not the only one feeling frustrated or overwhelmed. This is a LOT to take on, and you’re doing your best. Give yourself some grace. You don’t have to do everything perfectly or complete every to-do list. When it gets to be too much, it’s okay to step away and take a break. Try some guided breathing exercises or a few moments of meditation. Take a walk, or just sit for a while with a cup of tea and a good book. Whatever restores your spirit and gets you ready to take on the rest of your day.

  • Put Down Your Devices

Everyone has work to complete, but your day shouldn’t be all work and no play! If everyone is getting restless, unplug. Play a game together. Cook a family meal. Shoot hoops in the driveway, or blast music and have a dance party. You may be stuck at home, but you’re stuck with the people you love most, so have fun with it!

Remember, the team at SophieZo is here for you. Whether you need extra help with your business, advice, or just a friend who understands, we’re standing by, so please don’t hesitate to call or email. We’re all in this together and we’re going to stay strong!

We’ve been working with Sophie Zollmann for almost half a year now, building an online lifelong learning platform and community from the ground up (because in-person classes became impossible in light of the corona virus). Sophie has guided every technical aspect of this enterprise including the construction of landing-pages and websites, the management of mailing lists and revenue funnels, setting up Zoom meetings, etc., allowing us to focus exclusively on content production and marketing. This platform is now off the ground and succeeding beyond our wildest hopes.

We couldn’t have built it without Sophie’s support, which has always been prompt and timely, and her guidance, as she’s always pointed us to the most efficient and economical solutions to whatever technical issue we’ve faced. In the heat of the moment, I’m sure we’ve not always been easy to work with, but Sophie has also been generous and understanding to a fault. In sum, her support has been flawless and absolutely essential to the success of our online enterprise. We will be relying on her services again as we ramp up for our next phase of growth.
