Creating Your Stay-at-Home Schedule
Sophie Zollmann

Another week of social distancing and sheltering in place – how are you holding up? Lots of families are starting to find their rhythm and establish a new routine, but that doesn’t always stop the days from running together in one big blur! Many of us miss the structure of our previously orderly lives. Some of us are thriving on more downtime and a “take each day as it comes” attitude. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution for keeping your spirit strong during quarantine. The key is to find a routine that works for your family.

  • Kids

Most kids relish routine (even if they’d never admit it!) and losing the normal structure of their day can leave them reeling. It can really help to establish a daily routine for your kids. What that looks like will vary from family to family.

Whether you plan every hour or create a schedule that’s more of a loose suggestion, keep your kids’ unique personalities in mind. Set times for schoolwork when you know your kids will be most focused. Work in time for breaks and play. You know your kids better than anyone, and you’ll create a routine that fits your family’s needs. Whatever that entails, try to keep it consistent.

  • Spouse

Co-working from home can get complicated! My best suggestion for work-from-home compatibility are:

-Give everyone an individual workspace

-Schedule a block of uninterrupted work time for each of you

Where you work and when you work is completely up to you, but both you and your spouse need a quiet place where your work materials will not be disturbed. You’ll both be far more productive if you have a solid block of time where you can work without interruptions. Sit down with your spouse and create solutions and schedules that work for both of you.

  • You

Self-care is more important than ever. Constant family time can be wonderful, but let’s be honest – that’s A LOT of togetherness! You need to take time for yourself and allow yourself moments to decompress and do things that you enjoy.

Don’t get so caught up in running your business, looking after your family, and keeping your home in order that you find yourself run down and exhausted. It’s important to keep yourself physically and mentally healthy, so schedule time that’s just for you every single day.

I hope that you and your family are healthy and adapting well to “the new normal.” Please remember that the team at SophieZo is here for you. We want to support our friends in any way that we can during this challenging time, so please don’t hesitate to reach out or schedule a call today.
