Out with old and in with new!
A new year often inspires people to do some serious house cleaning, and who can blame them? There’s nothing better than starting the year fresh, organized, and ready to take on anything, so in honor of 2023 we’re talking about cleaning house!
I don’t have any tips for making dusting or mopping more fun (well, actually, I do – hire a housekeeper!), but I do have some awesome advice for doing a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual cleanup.
You’ve spent the last year filling your mind with ideas for growing your business and living the life you love, but after a while, it can get awfully cluttered in there. And when you’ve got to navigate around piles of discarded thoughts every day it really starts to drain your energy and motivation.
So, let’s clean house and make room for new ideas, inspiration, and opportunities!
Declutter Your Mind
Are you hanging on to negative thoughts and emotions that are dragging you down? Maybe you’re still focusing on things that didn’t go right last year instead of planning all the amazing things you’re going to do this year.
Let it go!! Banish negative thoughts and critical self-talk to make way for the positive, motivated mindset that will actually help you achieve the goals you’ve set for this year.
Move Your Body
We’re not talking about some January 1st crash diet, join the gym (but never go) nonsense. This isn’t about weight loss; it’s about feeling your best.
We all know that post-holiday sludgy feeling, right? Time to shake it off!
Brush off those stale Christmas cookie crumbs and get some fresh air. You want to start this year in peak shape, and that means eating food that makes you feel nourished and healthy, staying hydrated, getting plenty of sleep, and making time to move your body every day.
Clean Out Your Closet
This can be a literal closet cleanout where you get rid of all that stuff you haven’t worn in a decade (and go buy some new stuff!), but you don’t have to stop there!
Go through your files – computer and paper – and dump the junk. Empty your desk drawers and get rid of all that clutter that’s just taking up space and getting in your way. Clear off your desk and give yourself a neat, organized space to work. I promise you’ll feel so much more productive sitting at a clean desk than one littered with paper and half-empty coffee cups!
Refresh Your Relationships
Okay, this one is hard, but it’s also incredibly important! You have big dreams for your life, and you don’t need toxic relationships holding you back.
If you’ve got friendships that have run their course, or if you’re still spending time with people that don’t support you or encourage you, it’s time to move on.
Sometimes you outgrow relationships, and that’s okay. Give yourself permission to distance yourself from anyone that doesn’t build you up, honor your boundaries, or make your life better.
Don’t try to tackle everything at once – take it one task at a time. Before you know it, you’ll have cleaned out all those old thoughts, feelings, and bad energies to make way for an incredible year!
