3 Steps to Better Brand Positioning

Successful marketing boils down to one thing; getting your business seen by the right people at the right time.

Brand positioning is a huge challenge for many business owners. It’s hard to create marketing messages that truly resonate with your target audience, and that’s why too many companies find themselves throwing spaghetti at the wall and praying something sticks!

Luckily, there are far more effective approaches that help you connect with your audience and get their attention, and it all starts with a solid brand positioning strategy. Before you launch your next marketing initiatives, there are 3 important things you need to do:

  1. Research Your Audience

Not everyone will be a good candidate for your services, and that’s okay! Remember, you only need to reach the RIGHT people, but in order to do that, you have to figure out who the right people are!

Researching your ideal client helps you choose the best marketing channels and platforms while tailoring your message to meet their preferences. The more you can flesh out your ideal client avatars, the better. Do a deep dive into their needs, wants, preferences, behaviors, motivators, and pain points.

  2. Highlight Your Strengths

Every business has a unique value proposition (UVP) that sets them apart from their competition, and your UVP should take center stage in your marketing communications. If you haven’t taken the time to sit down and figure out the unique strengths and benefits of your brand, do that now! The more clearly you can convey your UVP through your marketing, the more likely you are to land the sale.

  3. Keep Communication Consistent

Brand recognition is an important part of your brand positioning strategy. You want customers to recognize your business at a glance, and that requires consistency. Your voice, message, and persona should be consistent across all platforms and channels of communication to solidify your brand identity and foster trust and loyalty.

When you have a strong brand identity, a clear UVP, and a deep understanding of who your customers are and what they really want, you’re prepared to craft a message that speaks directly to their needs. You won’t have to try everything under the sun and pray something sticks because you’ll know EXACTLY what your customers are looking for and how to deliver it in a way that truly resonates.
