Which Social Media Trends Will Be Most Important for 2018?

Digital marketing techniques and online advertising solutions seem to have evolved faster than ever in the previous year. In 2016, we were all beginning to explore the possibility of social media as a solution for making more powerful connections online. In 2017, we found new ways of communicating with our audiences through visual platforms and social influencers. Now, we’re left to wonder what 2018 will bring.

Here are just some of the trends you can expect to see in the coming year.

1. Influencer Marketing Will Continue To Shine

As we move further into 2018, it makes sense that business brands will continue to rely on their social media marketers to put them in touch with influencer marketers that can boost their appeal through word of mouth. An inspirational Instagram photo or retweeted post could do wonders for your business if you connect your posts with the right influencers.

2. Gen Z Will Become More Important

In the last year, marketers spent most of the time thinking of ways to connect to millennials. However, generation Z (people born after 1998) may be more important in the coming years. With more than 70 – million Gen Z customers in the marketplace, it might be time to think about how you can appeal to these new consumers with your social media strategies.

3. Augmented Reality Might Become a Reality

Finally, as new technologies become a more standard part of the marketplace, we might find that things like VR and AR become a more significant aspect of the social media world. That might mean taking the time to experiment with AR-enabled videos and applications if you’re in an industry where such experiences might be relevant for your audience.

We’ve been working with Sophie Zollmann for almost half a year now, building an online lifelong learning platform and community from the ground up (because in-person classes became impossible in light of the corona virus). Sophie has guided every technical aspect of this enterprise including the construction of landing-pages and websites, the management of mailing lists and revenue funnels, setting up Zoom meetings, etc., allowing us to focus exclusively on content production and marketing.
